Hal Mann tiles at London railway stations
The newly refurbished stations of the newly opened East London rail line has flooring tiles from Hal Mann International Ltd, part of Hal Mann Vella Ltd of Mosta.
Hal Mann developed, in conjunction with the London-based lead architects for the project, a special terrazzo flooring tile to meet the strict performance requirements demanded for this project.
This tile, developed over a period of two years, is a mixture of special aggregates manufactured at the Mosta factory under strict quality control. They were then shipped to the UK and installed by approved specialist UK installation companies, following methods particular to this tile and its use.
Flooring surfaces for Transport For London have to meet a whole variety of performance specifications. They have to be slip resistant in wet conditions, hard wearing and easy to maintain. They also have to look good.
The Hal Mann flooring tile, known as the RM-642, was used at a number of stations along the new rail line, including Woolwich Arsenal, Dalston Junction, Haggerston, Hoxton and the flagship Zone 1 station Shoreditch High Street.
